Who We Are

The Port Stanley Calipso Festival Inc. is a registered not-for-profit organization (OCN:1001185940) dedicated to celebrating community spirit, cultural enrichment, and environmental awareness in Port Stanley, Ontario and the surrounding region.

Calipso stands for Come And Live In Port Stanley, Ontario. And that name is not just an acronym—it is an open invitation.

Every August, on the Civic Holiday Weekend, we transform Port Stanley's waterfront, harbour, and streets into one of Ontario's most beloved summer celebrations, welcoming over 30,000 visitors from across the province and beyond.

Revived in 2019, the festival has grown into a regional landmark — a free, family-friendly, village-wide event that puts Port Stanley's people, culture, and Lake Erie shoreline at the centre of everything we do.

What We Do

Each year, the Calipso festival transforms Port Stanley into a free, public programming celebration that unfolds across the village's waterfront, harbour, beaches, parks, and streets over the August Civic Holiday Weekend. Here is a taste of what the festival brings to life:

  • Take to the water
The iconic Calipso Boat Parade brings the harbour alive each Saturday afternoon with a spectacular procession of decorated vessels — one of Lake Erie's most beloved maritime traditions
The Legends of Lake Erie boat rides offer 30-minute coastal cruises throughout the weekend, giving visitors a breathtaking view of Port Stanley from the water
  • Unwind on the beach
Mermaid Cove at Little Beach is a returning festival favourite, where visiting mermaids delight families with photos, enchantment, and captivating coastal storytelling
The Sol & Sea Marquee is the festival's newest social hub — local craft beer, award-winning wine, lakeside BBQ, live Latin DJs, and salsa lessons right at the water's edge
  • Enjoy live entertainment
Harbourfront live music fills Glover Park all weekend, with local musicians performing against the backdrop of Port Stanley's working harbour and the historic King George VI Lift Bridge
Family entertainment, magic performances, and community-led programming run throughout the village across all three days
  • Keep the kids engaged
Dedicated children's programming runs all weekend, with free games, prizes, and interactive activities designed to keep young visitors engaged from morning to evening
  • Introduce local flavour
Local vendors, restaurants, and artisan businesses open their doors to festival visitors throughout the weekend, putting Port Stanley's culinary and creative community front and centre
  • Unite the community
Calipso is built by Port Stanley's own — local organizations, community clubs, dedicated volunteers, and village businesses who show up every year because they believe this place is worth celebrating

Our Mission & Values

The Calipso Festival Corporation exists to foster community spirit, cultural enrichment, and environmental awareness in Port Stanley and surrounding areas through the organization of an annual summer festival that celebrates local heritage, supports local businesses, and promotes eco-tourism.
